What Does it Mean to be a Federally Recognized Tribe?
The Chickamauga Nation is a Federally Recognized Tribe which is not on the List of Federally Serviced Tribes. As signers of over 22 Treaties with the US government, Recognized to be under the jurisdiction of the United States in two different Acts of Congress, and various Federal Agencies, we still are not on the List after signing our first treaty with England and the SOuth Carolina Coliny in 1684.
