1809, February 25: Notes on a Cabinet Meeting, 25 February 1809 - Agreed that orders shall be given to the military to remove Squatters from the lands of the Chickasaws Cherokees & Choctaws, except Doublehead’s reserve & Wafford’s settlement. - https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Jefferson/99-01-02-9897

1835, February 25: On this date, John ROSS verbally agreed to exchange all Cherokee lands east of the Mississippi for land west of the MS (contingent upon the Cherokee General Council’s approval) for $20 million dollars. This verbal offer was made to Lewis CASS, Secretary of War. CASS viewed ROSS’ offer as just another ploy to delay action on removal for an additional year.
