For Your Knowledge. An example of a Treaty between the Indians and the United States begins with 7 Stat. and then the number of the Treaty, an example would be our 1785 Treaty of Hopewell which is 7 Stat 18.
The 1846 Treaty mentioned on Page 9 in this Letter is 9 Stat. 871 which is not a Treaty, 9 Stat is the part of the United States Code of Statutes that deals with Collective Bargaining Agreements. It pays to know what the Numbers mean.
