The Mistrust of The Chickamauga Nation toward the BIA IS Warranted

It has always been the policy of the United States government and her citizens to, "Kill the Indian and you will save his soul!"

The following is from Francis Purchs's "Documents of United States Indian Policy"

First, the United States takes lands that do not belong to them. They The United States heralds the glories of the Doctrine of Discovery for the express purpose of stealing the lands of the Indians and then putting those same Indians on lands they did not want for themselves, but refused to give the land to the Indians with fee simple title. The Indians were dispossessed, moved out of their homelands and put on Reservations. The United States owns the lands of the reservations and keeps their Indian Slaves on those reservation much like the plantation owners of the South did with their slaves.

Second, the United States government has audacity to make the following statements from the mouth of Indian Commissioner Thomas F Morgan. The Indian Commissioner is the forerunner to the Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

From the Highlighted Text:

1. The anomalous position heretofore occupied by the Indians in this country can not much longer be maintained. The Reservation system belongs to a "Vanishing state of things" and must soon cease to exist.
2. The logic of events demands the absorption of the Indians into our national life, not as Indians, but as American citizens.
3. As soon as a wise conservatism will warrant it, the relations of the Indians to the Government must rest solely upon the full recognition of their individuality. Each Indian must be treated as a man, be allowed a man's rights and privileges, and be held to the performance of a man's obligations. Each Indian is entitled to is proper share of the inherited wealth of the tribe, and to the protection of the courts in his "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness."  He is not entitled to be supported in idleness.
4. The Indians must conform to "the white man's ways," peaceably if they will, forcibly if they must. They must adjust themselves to their environment, and conform their mode of living substantially to our civilization. This civilization may not be the best possible, but it is the best the Indians can get. They can not escape it, and must either conform to it or be crushed by it.
5. The paramount duty of the hour is to prepare the rising generation of Indians for the new order of things thus forces upon them. A comprehensive system of education modeled after the American public-school system, but adopted to the special exigencies of the Indian youth, embracing all persons of school age, compulsory in its demands and uniformly administered, should be developed as rapidly as possible.
6. The tribal relations should be broken up, socialism destroyed, and the family and autonomy of the individual substituted. The allotment of the lands in severalty, the establishment of local courts and police, the development of a personal sence of independence, and the universal adoption of the English language are means to this end.

How does this effect The Chickamauga Nation? Because of the Doctrine of Discovery, the policy of the Untied States government has always been, "Kill the Indian and you will save his soul!" That is the policy of the Untied States toward The Chickamauga Nation. They have tried to kill us off since June 28, 1776 when the Continental Congress tasked General Rutherford with committing genocide against the Lower Town Chickamauga. The United States has acted in lock step with her Indian ally the Cherokee Nation to jointly extirpate the Chickamauga from the face of the earth. The Policy of the BIA has been nothing less than to deny our existence and thus deny us the Treaty Rights we possess.

We want to be very clear: These asinine Europeans invade our homelands, kill us, steal from us, and ultimately seek to destroy us and we are expected to trust them? They take what is ours in the name of their God on a Cross. Their actions are nothing more than Racism, Bigotry, and Religious Intolerance. They believed it was their duty under the Doctrine of Discovery, which their Supreme Court would uphold against us inferior, uncivilized, sub-human heathens, to conquer us and take what was ours in the name of their God on a Cross and their King.

Then, after they decimate our people and our homelands, after they steal everything we have, they have the audacity to move our people as far from them as they can so they never have to deal with us again, only to find out, that they have to deal with us because we exist.

The one thing they forgot about the Chickamauga, We STAND!
