Two stories this week which must be addressed. Both deal with Chickamauga families.

‘Not a tribal citizen’ Prominent Hollywood figure Heather Rae has claimed Cherokee for decades

Heather Rae, the person this article was written about is a Lower Town Chickamauga. Her ancestry ties back to the Chickamauga Family of Sarah Bushyhead. Heather Rae and her family are more than welcome to be part of The Chickamauga Nation. She has been told like hundreds of thousands of other families that they are Cherokee. That is not her fault, the United States government identified everyone who spoke the Cherokee Trade Language as Cherokee no matter what their race and ethnicity.

Her family lineage is of the Mound Culture and the Southeast Ceremonial Complex. We want to demonstrate our love for her and her family by by restoring her rightful place in Native American life which has be taken from her in hate by the Cherokee.

The Largest Holder of Native American Human Remains is Preparing to Return Thousands of Indigenous Ancestors

Let's Be Honest About the TVA and American Indian Law. Most of the Remains are from Mound Complexes on the Tennessee River and the only tribe who was of the Mound Culture and lived on the Tennessee River were and are the Chickamauga. But the American Indian Law forbids us from receiving our ancestors because we are not on the list of Federally Recognized Tribes Eligible for benefits and Services from the BIA.

How can our Ancestors rest in peace when their remains are dug up and taken by the federal government and then given to corporate Indians and not their descendants? Our ancestors will remain tormented forever until we are allowed to bury them in our traditions and ways and only then they may rest in peace.

How dare the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, and Chickasaw take the remains of Chickamauga when they are NOT Chickamauga and have no rights to the bodies and remains of our ancestors?
